Yossi Messiah paints intricate mosaic patterns reminiscent of ancient works of wonder. Yossi Messiah finds the inspiration for his form and warm colour pallets in his Middle Eastern heritage and the Australian landscape. In some of his creations, the mosaic patterns apparent on the canvas are also present in the overall artistic expression of the art works. Painted panels are placed in rows or adjacent to each other to form rectangles. The composition is thus a mirror of itself balancing the smallest of the details against the large scale of the work and it seems to gently whisper: "What is above is also below!"
