Known for blending ancient Jewish melodies with fun hip-hop beats, The Asthmatix boast a unique sound sprinkled with violin, keyboards and turntables. Since 2007 they have been playing around various Sydney venues including the Opera Bar and Name This Bar and festivals including Playground Weekender and Shir Madness.
Band members Micha Morphingaz (Beats), Daniel Weltlinger (Violin), Dan Pliner (Keyboard) and Asparagus Mlynsky (Turntables) are on the verge of releasing their first single “Latke” which takes an age old custom of cooking potato cakes (Latkes); fusing them with fat oily hip hop beats and violin spices.
Quotes from fans of The Asthmatix “...an exotic fusion of the senses .. a quartet of turntablism, keys and violin,. ever expansive & evolving in the moment,. fresh!” “If I could have just one wish, it would be to wake up to your songs in the morning.”
